The first meeting of the Mason Institute PhD Reading Group will be held on 31 October 2013. This group will be dedicated to discussing topics of interest to doctoral researchers from diverse disciplines with mutual and complimentary interests in the interface between medicine, life sciences, ethics and the law in a friendly and informal setting. The aim is to bring together PhD students from all the Mason Institute affiliated disciplines and schools – although postdoctoral fellows and staff are also very welcome. A central feature of this group will be to discuss texts from different disciplines in a way that is stimulating and accessible to everyone from all the fields of research represented. Meetings will be held every three weeks. A new short text will be selected by a different member of the group each session. Each meeting will be kicked-off by an introduction to the text by the person who proposed it – followed by a group-wide discussion. Texts may include published articles, book chapters, or papers written by group members themselves.
First meeting of the MI PhD Reading Group, 17:00-18:30, Thursday 31 October, Ken Mason Suite, Old College. For further information please contact the convenor Emily Postan and you can sign up to attend the meeting here.
