Sarah Chan, Agomoni Ganguli-Mitra and Emily Postan, together with collaborators from other universities in the UK North, have been awarded funding from the Wellcome Trust to develop a Northern Bioethics Network. The aim of the NBN is to bring together bioethicists in the north of the UK to foster collaboration, networking and career development. The preliminary meeting of the NBN in July 2017 was held in Edinburgh, supported by the Mason Institute. A second meeting in December featured work-in-progress research talks and a training session on social media for bioethicists. With the support of the Wellcome Trust, we are now planning meetings in 2018 to be hosted in Lancaster and Newcastle. Each meeting will include research presentations, career development training and networking opportunities, and new members are always welcome — watch this space for dates!
