Annie joined the Liminal Spaces project as a PhD candidate in January 2016 from a career in legal practice. Her doctoral research interrogates the contribution of the public interest to health research regulation both North and South of the border.  In particular, she considers the contrasting public interest regimes that have evolved that regulate access to identifiable patient information for research purposes without consent. This is an interdisciplinary study that employs both legal and social science research methods.

Alongside her research Annie also teaches and was appointed as a Lecturer in Medical Law and Ethics at the University of Edinburgh School of Law from August 2017.
